Early in her career as a critical care nurse, and then as a healthcare administrator, Alice learned that people needed much more than hospital care to be healthy. As County Commissioner, Alice now works with community partners everyday to help every Lancaster County resident thrive.
Alice grew up in a housing project in Queens, NY. Her childhood experiences and Catholic faith instilled in her a deep commitment to serving her community. She lived in the Washington D.C. and Pittsburgh areas before moving to Lancaster County more than three decades ago.
She is committed to making Lancaster County a place where all families can succeed. She’s served on numerous national, state, and local boards, committees, and coalitions focused on everything from community planning and farmland preservation to providing free health and dental care to under-resourced residents. Alice is a founding member of the Lancaster Coalition Against Domestic Violence, chaired the Children and Youth Advisory Council and Lancaster County Planning Commission, was part of the start up team for the Lancaster County child sexual assault center, and has been an integral part of many other organizations. She currently serves on the State Health Advisory Board, the Board of the Partnership for Public Health, and is Vice-Chair of the State Health Improvement Plan.
Commissioner Alice Yoder is working to make Lancaster County government work for all of us. Alice has two children and lives in West Hempfield (where she served on the planning commission) with her husband, one dog, several chickens and 2 horses.
